Hot Tubs are a HOOT!

Hoot

By Tracy Lawrence

Last time, on BYP’s blog

I admitted that I secretly believe my spa gives me ideas.  And in that moment, my spa gave me the idea to discover all of the benefits it has to offer by using it in in a way that was out of my ordinary.   It ended with a cliffhanger when my spa whispered the plan…

Now that you’re all caught up, it’s time to end the suspense!

….continued from last blog

My spa gurgled and whispered: “Next time, turn it all off.”

What?  Why? My spa is so cryptic.

I wrapped myself in a towel and headed off to bed.

The next day was a day like any other. I fell into my usual daily after work soak in the hot tub with one major change. I turned it all off:  the lights, the jets, the music.

Dark. Still.  Silent.  Warm. Comfortable.

I listened more attentively, waiting to hear what my spa might say today. I made out the sound of the occasional breeze through the trees.  Distant sounds of rustling leaves.   Then it occurred to me, that’s not my spa talking.  That’s the Earth!

I’m not sure how much time passed when I realized, listening to the world was something I have never made time for.  I continued in silence.  It was relaxing.  Then, there was the realization that all of this happens without any effort from me:  time marches, the world spins, the wind blows, the seasons change, and that brought a feeling of peace.

Suddenly, it became magical.

I wasn’t sure I heard it at first, but a sound in the distance peaked my interest.  A while passed before I heard it again.

What was that?  Was that [listening] the faint hoot of an owl?  I closed my eyes and really focused my ears and waited. Then I heard it more clearly.  Somewhere, off in the far distance to my right, a hoot.  As if that wasn’t exciting enough, it was followed by a similar hoot in the distance to my left.  I sat contently, quietly eavesdropping on their flirting.  I soaked in that experience a very long time.

My backyard was boring until I got my spa.   Just like that, my backyard became the most fascinating place.  But did my spa make the backyard interesting?  Or did it offer the best seats in the house to discover it?

The owl experience was so mesmerizing; I made a decision, right then and there, to reserve seats for my backyard theater.  I’d get tickets for the sun, the stars, the animals, the breeze, the weather and the phases of the moon.

When I bought this spa, I got so much more than I had bargained for.

What amazing thing is going on in your backyard right now?  Reserve your seats and keep me posted!
